Digital product passports are becoming increasingly mandatory for monitoring saving targets within the framework of EU-wide emission reductions. DPPs can enable a standardized exchange of emissions data along the entire product life cycle. A framework for systematic introduction and targeted use can simplify their often difficult practical integration, especially for small and medium-sized companies.

Nowadays, maintenance logistics is considered an integral part of sustainable maintenance management and is now conducted with IT support in many of the fields where it is applied. It can therefore be seen as one of many examples of digitalization in the working world. Both the selected maintenance strategy, the implementation of which is more or less linked to the use of intelligent technologies, and the current level of IT integration are emblematic of the degree of digitalization in this context. In the agricultural sector, the type of maintenance objects in question plays an important role in the use of digital technologies. This article is dedicated to investigating the status quo of digital maintenance logistics in German agricultural businesses at the interface of ICT, technology and business.

The complex dynamics of block warehouses pose major challenges to the manual stocktaking process. Frequent relocation of pallets, crates or pallet cages without fixed storage locations leads to a time-consuming and error-prone inventory process, wherein goods often have to be searched for and damages due to improper storage can occur. The use of (semi-)autonomous drones offers a promising solution to enable automated stocktaking, especially if these are appropriately equipped for optical goods detection.

In this article, the potential risks in wire arc additive manufacturing are analyzed using failure mode and effects analysis. To achieve this, 186 possible causes of risk were analyzed and the five most critical risks were discussed in detail. Four significant risk factors were identified in the construction process. The fifth risk relates to the shielding gas flow. This is only one influencing factor among the welding parameters, which have strong interactions with each other. Therefore, their relationships should be analyzed on the basis of numerous tests.

It is important to integrate ecological, social and economic requirements into the respective areas of responsibility. In addition, employees must be motivated and qualified to adopt environmentally friendly working practices in order to be able to implement sustainable manufacturing in practice. Sustainable incentive systems and employee-oriented personnel management must also be taken into account.

Correctly recycling obsolete refrigeration devices plays an important role in environmental and climate protection efforts. Recycling plants are subject to regular audits to ensure their compliance with strict environmental regulations. However, the collection of audit-related data is a challenging and time-consuming task, as it is usually done manually and is prone to errors. One solution for more sustainable and efficient monitoring is to automate digital data collection using sensors and artificial intelligence. This enables a direct estimate of the expected level of pollutants. This paves the way for continuous performance monitoring and efficient management of refrigeration appliance recycling plants.
