Product-Service Systems in the Context of Industry 4.0

Product-Service Systems in the Context of Industry 4.0

Auf dem Weg zu CPSS
Christian Gorldt, Stefan Wiesner, Ingo Westphal
The development of industry 4.0 concepts in production and logistics has progressed rapidly in recent years. The systems being affected by rapid technological changes, such as the introduction of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). The realization of CPS requires interdisciplinary considerations of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, information and business management. The full potential of industry 4.0 can only be deployed, when in addition to technical challenges also business opportunities are involved in the development. The aim of this paper is to show specific requirements for development of CPS systems and to identify approaches for Cyber-Physical Product-Service Systems (CPSS).

On the Way to Industry 4.0

On the Way to Industry 4.0

Christian Gorldt, Alexander Pflaum
The development of information and communication technologies (ICT) is progressing rapidly and is seen in today‘s economic action as a key driver of innovation. Future industrial production is characterized by a high degree of customization of products and a strong production flexibility. The rapid development of the Internet has contributed especially in recent years in the private life of merging the real with the virtual world and will get stronger in the future of industrial sector. This paradigm shift is referred to as Industry 4.0. This paper gives an overview of the Industry 4.0 and represents the potential of the transformation process.

Strategic Management of Swap Bodies in Freight Transportation

Strategic Management of Swap Bodies in Freight Transportation

Christian Gorldt, Marco Lewandowski, Patrick Dittmer, Alexander Podlich
In this paper we show an integrative solution to freight traffic reduction. Beside telematic systems we also regard software for planning and control of swap bodies in the area of courier express and parcel provider. The objective is to design a decision support tool for transport planning to support users to solve their daily problems of tour planning. The software prototype introduced in this contribution was provided in the context of the BMWi promoted project Inwest and will be evaluated in field test in third quarter of 2009.

Optimized Transport Planning Based on Evolutionary Algorithms

Optimized Transport Planning Based on Evolutionary Algorithms

Thomas Weise, Alexander Podlich, Manfred Menze, Christian Gorldt
In this paper we introduced in transport planning based on evolutionary algorithms. The objective is to design a decision support tool for transport planning manager to support the planning process. An important criterion is to minimize the transportation (km) by using this tool. The prototype introduced in this paper was tested with real business data to check the suitability for transportation planning. Furthermore, different settings for the evolutionary algorithm are experimentally studied their utility is verified with statistical tests.

The implementation of object-identification without contact by Radio Frequency Identification technology (RFID) is in the meantime taken into consideration by many small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to enhance on the one hand their internal workflows in production and logistics and on the other hand to satisfy customer demands. However, in the last years only little or superficial knowledge of this technology has been acquired. Hence, qualified and certified training for dealing with RFID is highly necessary. Process security shall thus be guaranteed internally and uniform standards within the supply chain regarding the implementation and application of RFID, can be substantiated.

Professional on the job training, the continuous lifelong learning in the companies, requires as prerequisite, an ever increasing orientation toward more applications. Activities and situations pertaining to the organisation and to work processes are gaining in importance. The research project “PALME” offers a new approach to enterprise specific training. PALME follows up on an enterprise integrated education concept consisting of studying in a decentra- lized system and using computer support.
