Autonomous Control for Automobile Terminals

Autonomous Control for Automobile Terminals

Potenziale selbststeuernder logistischer Prozesse zur Flexibilisierung der Flächenmasterplanung
Michael Görges, Michael Freitag ORCID Icon
The yard assignment in automobile terminals plays an essential role for the entire planning process. Due to short planning cycles and volatile planning information, the yard assignment determines the planning performance. This article analyses the effects and interdependencies of yard assignment planning. On this basis, this paper presents an approach for deriving and evaluating autonomous control methods for a dynamic the yard assignment planning to improve the terminal’s overall performance.

Logistic processes at seaports and inland terminals play an important role for finished vehicle logistics. High flexibility and reactivity are required to cope with frequent deviations from original operational planning. This paper describes a concept for developing tools and systems to optimize planning and control processes. This includes a simulation backed planning system and a control system for order allocation using mobile devices and their GPS as well as sensor data.

Transfer of Research and Development Results to Standardisation Processes

Transfer of Research and Development Results to Standardisation Processes

A Procedure Model Based Approach and its Application in the Field of Offshore Wind Energy Logistics
Michael Görges, Annette Schimmel
Standardisation of industrial solutions is a crucial factor for the competitiveness of whole industry sectors. Especially young and immature industries, like the offshore wind energy sector, may benefit from standardised processes. Several research and development projects address information flow and the planning in this field. The standardisation of the projects results may improve the performance of the whole supply chain. However, the transfer of research and development results to standardisation processes is a challenging task. Thus, this paper introduces a procedure model for the identification and evaluation of research and development results for standardisation.

Potentials of Innovative Handling Technologies in Seaports

Potentials of Innovative Handling Technologies in Seaports

Ökonomische und ökologische Perspektiven von magnetbasierten Handhabungstechologien im Umschlag von Stahlprodukten
Bernd Scholz-Reiter ORCID Icon, Michael Görges, Wolf Lampe
The handling of general cargo in seaports is a time-consuming and resource-intensive activity. The implementation of novel handling technologies opens new potential to improve the handling process and its sustainability as well. This paper introduces a magnet system based approach for handling steel products in seaports and addresses its economical and ecological potentials. It presents a detailed event driven process chain model (EPC) of the handling process and an analysis of the corresponding potentials. Besides process related potentials like decreasing operative costs or increasing the process stability, this paper presents the capability of this new technology to reduce the ecological effects by saving dunnage.
