To responsibly design production systems that are sustainable in the long term, continuous data exchange between all actors in the value creation network is essential. Both in early product development and in production planning and execution, reliable information and corresponding decision support are crucial. The following article addresses the structured collection of requirements that companies in the automotive industry have for a data model and methodology to enable decision support.

Additive manufacturing processes are becoming increasingly important in industry and enable the cost-e ective production of complex components in small quantities. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular can bene t from the high customization potential enabling the development of new business models. However, the widespread use of additive processes faces high production costs and technological challenges. Meanwhile, scienti c research focuses on the optimization of individual process steps of additive manufacturing and does not o er su cient support for SMEs. Therefore, this paper deals with the development of a cross-process value chain of additive manufacturing for SMEs. Based on a systematic analysis of scienti c literature, relevant additive manufacturing processes were investigated, and a cross-process value chain was derived. The results were veri ed by expert interviews and central research and development requirements were extracted.

The ever increasing volatility in market conditions push the requirements of industrial companies for operational intelligence far beyond the capabilities of common business intelligence solutions. An integrated and comprehensive software solution was missing. Enterprise Operational Intelligence (EOI) closes the gap. EOI focuses Big Data on company strategies and (strategy-)compliant value chains. This incorporates a structured approach for all data to deliver value, including manufacturing-related data, Internet of Things and real-time processing, somewhat analogous to computer tomography. EOI allows leaders and managers to continuously adjust business processes to keep them in line with business strategies. Operations can be adjusted to new realities rapidly and the consequences of interventions can be understood quickly and comprehensively.

Collaborative Business in the common sense addresses the tightly coupled, cooperative interworking between different companies on the business process layer. The capability of full-fledged, realtime collaboration is one of the fundaments for the virtual enterprise. Based upon a cooperation with the SAP AG a methodological framework for the collaborative, automated generation of business processes is being developed in the CoBPIA-project. The major goal can be described as the best possible adaption towards rapidly changing market situations, achieved by the processing of a market request and its automated transformation into a business process. The given approached is highly knowledge driven.
