The Baltic Sea Region is one of the most dynamic regions in the European Union (EU). Since the enlargement of the EU in 2004, it offers new opportunities for manufacturing as well as for trading companies and logistics service providers. However, there are discrepancies in the speed of economic development in the different regions. This paper will present the results of a logistics study that was conducted in 9 regions around the Baltic Sea. The aim of this study was to enable a first time comparative analysis of the status quo and the needs of the logistics sector in the Baltic Sea Region. The investigation was part of a European research project with partners from Hamburg, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, and Sweden.
